The short version
- SafeHold only stores what's strictly needed to work, such as keeping you logged in.
- No advertising cookies, no tracking, and no analytics that follow you around.
- That's why there's no cookie banner. There's nothing to say yes or no to.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Browsers can also keep information in "local storage", which works in a similar way. The same rules apply to both, so this page covers both.
This website (safehold.org.uk)
This website doesn't set any cookies of its own, and it doesn't use analytics or adverts. Our fonts are stored on our own website, so loading a page doesn't send anything to Google or anyone else.
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set a security cookie to tell real visitors apart from harmful automated traffic. It's strictly necessary, holds nothing about you, and expires within a day.
The web app (app.safehold.org.uk)
| What | Why it's needed | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your log-in session | Keeps you logged in, safely | Until you log out. With "This is a shared computer", only until you close the tab. |
| Drafts | Saves what you're typing on this device straight away, so nothing is lost | Until you save, choose "Start fresh" or log out on a shared computer |
| Your settings on this device | Remembers choices like discreet mode, and which sections you keep folded | Until you change them or clear your browser |
These are all "strictly necessary", so the law doesn't require us to ask first. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings, but you'll be logged out and anything not yet saved to your account will be lost.
The legal detail
These uses fall within the "strictly necessary" exemption in regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).
If this ever changes
If we ever want to use anything that isn't strictly necessary, for example to measure our adverts, we'll ask you first, it will be off unless you say yes, and we'll update this page before we start. It will never include anything about your records or your children.
